February Spaghetti Dinner Benefits Farmington High School Marching Band

A charity contra dance held before the dinner supports local charities.

Groves-Walker American Legion Post 346 will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner on Feb. 10, 4 p.m.-7 p.m., to help raise funds for the Farmington High School marching band.

Students will perform during dinner; they will also help serve and clean up.

The dinner has been organized by the Farmington High School Music Patrons, and the menu consists of spaghetti with meat sauce or vegetarian sauce, garlic bread, tossed salad, assorted desserts (donated by Music Patron members), coffee, tea and soft drinks. A cash bar will also be available.

Raffles, including a themed basket raffle, and door prize drawings will be happening all night.

Advance tickets are $9, $7 for seniors, and $5 for children under 13. There will also be a family rate of $25 for two adults and their children (under 13).

Before dinner, from 1 p.m.-4 p.m., Miss Farmington 2011 Elise Newcomer will host a charity Contra Dance upstairs at the Post. Contra dancing is a form of folk dance, similar to square dancing, done to live music. The dance is open to all ages and no partner is necessary. Beginners are welcome to come at 12:30 p.m. for a lesson before taking part in the dance.

Admission is a requested donation of $10 per person, $5 per student, with all funds going to local charities. A handicapped accessible elevator is located in rear of building.

For more information or pre-sale tickets, contact Janet Newcomer at janetnewcomer@yahoo.com or 248-478-5196.
