Five Things You Should Know Today

Zippity 2 Dad kicks off family-friendly concerts in Riley Park.

If you're a parent, guardian or child (even at heart), you should know about these five things today:

If you missed "Yoga in the Great Outdoors" 7 a.m. Monday—or you just can't get enough of —head over there today from 8 a.m.-9 a.m. This class is suitable for participants of all skill levels; bring a yoga mat and dress in layers. If it's raining, class will be held indoors.

The city-owned historic mansion on Grand River is open today from 1-5 p.m. Take a few moments to walk through the home with a docent to learn more about Michigan's only three-term governor and Farmington native son Fred Maltby Warner—and if the weather's nice, sit for a while on the porch. It's good for your soul.

Two Oakland County dads with seven children between them bring their toe-tappin', family-friendly free concert to tonight at 7 p.m. (If it rains, head over to the .)

The Farmington-Farmington Hills Optimist Club has been hosting monthly community programs on a variety of topics, and tonight's meeting at the will offer information and resources to the families of children with cancer. is hosting a "Rock of Ages Big Band" concert this evening, with a 17-piece ensemble performing classics from the 1930s and 1940s. With this concert series running through Aug. 10, local residents can enjoy free concerts Wednesday and Thursday in Heritage Park and Friday's Rhythmz in Riley Park in downtown Farmington.
