Get Corny at the Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market Saturday

It's buck-an-ear time, offering market-goers the opportunity to sample Michigan sweet corn.

Feeling a little corn-y? Head over to the Farmington Farmers & Artisans Market today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and sample the season’s best corn. 

The Market's Corn Roast offers ears of corn for $1, with proceeds benefiting the . Fusilier Farm, Goetz Farm and Gass Farm have donated the corn.

Today's market also offers your first chance to buy tickets for the Harvest Moon Celebration, Sept. 22-24. Find them at the Market Information Booth.

Daniel Goree, from the Pacific Northwest, brings his interpretation of American rock-n-roll, R & B, Motown and country to the market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. At 10 a.m., Friends of the Market will host a class on harvesting herbs with Paula Kraus, and at 11 a.m., se what’s Cookin’ at the Market with Chef Dave Poirier of Williams-Sonoma at Twelve Oaks Mall.

Downtown Farmington’s contribution to the MI (“my”) Apple Trail remains on display at the market. Talented artists Geoff and Marty Merrill volunteered to decorate the apple, which is on display in Riley Park. The MI Apple Trail is a public art project sponsored by Eastern Market in Detroit that features 4-foot-tall, 3-dimensional apples decorated by local artists and displayed at farmers markets throughout southeast Michigan through mid-September.
