Get Out: Art, Rouge Rescue, Life-Sized Chess
Indoors and outdoors, there's plenty to do this weekend in Farmington and Farmington Hills.
You'll find plenty of activities between Art on the Grand and the Farmington Farmers & Artisans Market in downtown Farmington this weekend, but there are many other events posted on our calendar.

Why go: With a tip of the hat to Harry Potter, this is the start of qualifying for the the best-played game of chess Farmington and Farmington Hills have seen in many years. A familiarity with chess is required. This elimination tournament concludes with a public game of live chess played June 18, in the library auditorium.

Why go: If you're a steampunk fan, this event will appeal – but there's plenty of unusual photography for viewsing and sale. Refreshments by Steampunk Cookery.

3. Rouge River Rescue - Heritage Park
Where/When: , 25099 Farmington Rd, Farmington Hills; June 4, 9 a.m.
Why go: This will make you feel like you've really done something to help the environment. Plus, there's free lunch for all volunteers.

Where/When: , 28555 Middlebelt Rd, Farmington Hills; Sunday, 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
Why go: Tour the facilities, meet the staff, and learn about the school's curriculum, which emphasizes foreign language proficiency a broad liberal arts setting.

Where/When: North Congregational Church, 36520 W 12 Mile Rd, Farmington Hills; Sunday, 4 p.m.
Why go: This 16-voice women’s ensemble will present the choral premiere of Sungji Hong’s “Missa Lumen de Lumine," along with selections by Brahms, Bright, Caldwell/Ivory, Debussy, Fauré, Nelson, Rutter, and Weir.
Pricing: $10 adult, $7 student/senior. Tickets available at the door.
