Get Out: 'Beauty & the Beast Jr.,' 'The Producers,' Yom HaShoah

Two Farmington Hills theater groups premiere shows this weekend.

This is a jam-packed weekend in Farmington and Farmington Hills, with no shortage of events to entertain and educate you and your family. Here are the ones we're keeping an eye on:

Why go: Young actors bring this beloved children's story to life with a creative set and glorious costumes. This show defines "family friendly."

Why go: We don't really need to tell you, do we? The American Red Cross is always in need of blood and blood products.

Pricing: A pint of blood.

Where/When: , 28600 W. 11 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills; Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Why go: This is one activity that could, literally, save your life. Project Healthy Living offers free height, weight, blood pressure, vision and glaucoma screenings. There will also be optional tests available for nominal fees. You will be able to receive counseling and referrals at this time, too.

Pricing: Admission is free and open to the public; there's a fee for some tests. Visit the Project Healthy Living website to preregister for blood work and for information about the tests being offered.

Where/When: , 33112 Grand River Ave., Farmington; Friday, 5:30-9 p.m.

Why go: This is a great way to buy clothing, baby items, books and toys for your kids at deep discounted prices. Plus, they allow strollers.

Why go: A script by Mel Brooks combined with the talents of our local community theater group—this is a can't-miss proposition. If you need further convincing, .

Why go: This is Holocaust Remembrance Day and a celebration of the 30th anniversary of C.H.A.I.M. (Children of Holocaust Survivors in Michigan). There will also be a dedication of the new electronic exhibit Portraits of Honor: Michigan's Holocaust Survivors.
