Google: Detroit Searches for News; Farmington Searches for Zangle

Farmington Schools' new software tops the list of rising searches by local Google users.

Google has become synonymous with search on the web, but what exactly do people search most for?

Detroiters, it seems, are looking for news, reports Huffington Post Detroit, which took a look at the regional Detroit list released Thursday as part of the Google Zeitgeist Report for 2011. Six of the Top 10 search terms in the Detroit regional summary are for local news organizations, specifically the TV stations. "Fox 2 News" takes the top spot, with "Click On Detroit" in second followed closely by "Wdiv."

Nationwide, people searched for pop culture – "Rebecca Black" was the No. 1 search – and Apple secured two spots in the Top 10 with "iPhone 5" and "Steve Jobs."
