Headed to the Farmers Market? Here's What You'll Find

Sheila Landis performs, and you'll find heaps of great Michigan produce.

From music to great food to games for the kids, today's Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market at the has something for everyone. The market opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 2 p.m.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Music at the Market features Sheila Landis and Rick Matle. Landis sings jazz, rock, bebop as well as Latin rhythms accompanied by Matie on 7-string guitar.

Also at 10 a.m., the Fit Farmington 1-mile walking course through Downtown Farmington kicks off from the Information booth, where you'll also find tickets for this year's Harvest Moon celebration, held Sept. 22-24.

At 11 a.m., see what’s Cookin’ at the Market with Doc’s Sports Retreat in Livonia, and bring the kids to Let's Play! game day in the park, with .

If you haven't checked out the MI (“my”) Apple Trail at the Market, you'll find the 4-foot-tall handpainted apple on the north side of Riley Park. It was painted by husband-and-wife duo of Geoff and Marty Merrill of Farmington Hills. The MI Apple Trail is a public art project sponsored by Eastern Market in Detroit; apples will be on display at farmers markets throughout southeast Michigan through mid-September.
