High Winds Cause Widespread Power Outages, Including Farmington Hills

DTE reports roughly 92,000 customers woke up without power and repairs are under way.

High winds whipped through Oakland County and majority of southeast Michigan overnight, causing some widespread power outages. More than 500 residents are without power between Franklin Road and Middlebelt in Farmington Hills, and outages are also apparent in smaller pockets south of I-696 in Farmington Hills.

DTE reports nearly 92,000 customers awoke without power Sunday morning, the majority clustered in southern Oakland County and around Ann Arbor, according to the DTE Outage map.

The winds peaked between 50-60 mph at around 3 a.m. and prompted the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory until 8 a.m. The winds have since subsided.

There are no listed times for estimated restoration. DTE crews are out making repairs, but the high winds are making progress difficult, according to WDIV-TV.

The forecast calls for high temperatures between 20-25 degrees with a chance for snow showers, according to the NWS. Lows are expected at around 10 degrees, and won't be much better Monday when they are expected in the mid-teens. A chance of snow showers persists.

I don't know what to "click" on to find the garage sales. They used to be "rightRead More there" when I opened the Patch email everyday. I am assuming they are now listed under something else and I guess I need instructions as to where to find it and what to click on to get to them. thanks

Grama, in addition to our Thursday map, you can click on the Events link at the top of the page, andRead More along the left side, you'll see "Garage Sales". Just click on that, and you'll see all the listings. They should be among the events in our newsletter, too. Hope that helps!
