1. Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging for a few reasons. One was because I love writing. Another was, I heard you could make money at it. Ha! I mean, you definitely can. I just haven't made very much. When I started blogging, four years ago, I had a small child still at home and I was looking for something to do and a way to connect with other women. WOW, what an incredible experience this has been.

2. Briefly, describe your blog(s). What do you write about? Are you making money with it?

I own two blogs and many domain names. Rock and Drool is where I write about my life and I experiment with creative writing. You Won't Go Blind is a group blog about sex, relationships, intimacy. Rock and Drool makes me a little bit of money via text ad links and affiliate. Mostly, I'm earning money from writing on other blogs that aren't my own.

3. What's the strangest comment you've gotten on it?

Strangest comment ... hmmmm.  I don't think I've gotten any strange ones so much as argumentative ones that don't agree with my point of view. That's ok, I don't expect everyone to agree with me, just don't be rude about stating your own opinion. Agree to disagree.

4. What's been the biggest benefit of blogging?

Writing. Rediscovering my love of writing and story telling. And ... connecting with people that I would never have otherwise met. I've made the most wonderful friends from blogging.

5. What's the down side?

The downside is the time suckage and getting caught up in stats, comparing your blog to other blogs, etc. It's a very competitive hobby/career, more blogs are popping up all the time, and it's hard not to get discouraged when great things are happening to newer blogs and yours is sitting stagnant. It can make you feel very insecure on so many levels.

6. What's your best advice for someone who would like to start a blog?

Don't expect overnight success, because the chances of that are slim to none. Also, don't expect to make a fortune blogging. And lastly, it's hard work. What you put into it is what you can ALMOST KIND OF expect to get out of it.
