Ice Carvers Leave Snowflakes in Downtown Farmington

The Oakland Community College team created their masterpieces in Riley Park during Holly Days on Saturday.

Chainsaws and other power tools hummed in Riley Park this morning as ice carvers from Oakland Community College's Culinary Studies Institute demonstrated their craft as part of the (DDA) Holly Days celebration.

Led by Chef Doug Ganhs of the  Culinary Studies Institute, the team created two large snowflakes from several blocks of ice. While the DDA had hoped to have the sculptures on display through the weekend, they're likely to melt as temperatures are expected to remain above freezing through Sunday night.
