Learn About Cooperative Gardens at Farmington Hills Workshop

The city's Commission for Energy and Environmental Sustainability hosts this free event on April 25.

The Commission for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (CEES) will host a free workshop on “Opportunities in Cooperative Gardens” on Wednesday, April 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Farmington Hills City Hall.

The workshop will discuss the opportunities that gardens create when using neighborhood and business open spaces to cultivate local healthy food options for neighbors and coworkers.

  • Provide opportunities for intergenerational and cross-cultural connections

  • Speakers will include Trevor Johnson of New Dawn Gardenscapes, designer of client gardens and ecosystems and manager of the Ferndale and Royal Oak community farms, and Charmaine Kettler-Schmult, Community Development Coordinator for the City of Farmington Hills.

    The Commission for Energy and Environmental Sustainability is supportive of the concepts of locally and sustainably cultivated food. Not only does locally produced food provide fresher, healthier, and cheaper options, but it also helps reduce the environmental impact of commercial food production and shipping.
