Local Red Cross Blood Drives Help Meet Critical Need

Eight blood drives will be held in Farmington and Farmington Hills over the next nine days.

The American Red Cross this week put out a call for donors, and there are eight opportunities for you to answer that call locally over the next eight days.

Many donors are busy or traveling, school is out of session and donations have dropped dramatically. In May and June, while demand for blood products remained steady, donations were at the lowest level the Red Cross has seen during this timeframe in over a dozen years. Because of that, the Red Cross needs blood donors now more than ever. All types are needed, but especially O negative, which can be used to treat any patient.

If you are are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on height) and are in generally good health, you may be eligible to give blood. Bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of ID when you come to any of these locations:

I don't know what to "click" on to find the garage sales. They used to be "rightRead More there" when I opened the Patch email everyday. I am assuming they are now listed under something else and I guess I need instructions as to where to find it and what to click on to get to them. thanks

Grama, in addition to our Thursday map, you can click on the Events link at the top of the page, andRead More along the left side, you'll see "Garage Sales". Just click on that, and you'll see all the listings. They should be among the events in our newsletter, too. Hope that helps!
