MDOT Grand River Project Delayed by Rain

Look for single lane closures between Eight Mile and Purdue.

Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) crews were scheduled to begin construction today along the eastbound and westbound lanes of Grand River Ave, between Eight Mile Rd. and Purdue Ave.

While barrels are placed, actual construction has been delayed "until the weather breaks, and we get a nice, sunny day," MDOT spokesperson Rob Morosi said. The road has to be restriped due to a lane closure, which can't be done in the rain, he explained.

Crews will be working through late August to narrow the center boulevard and create wider lanes, which will be resurfaced and restriped. The project also includes signal upgrades, and minor sidewalk work.

Look for single interior lanes closures until June 1. Additional lane closures will occur throughout the duration of the project.

MDOT crews will also be in this area in August and September, resurfacing  a mile of M-5 from the I-96/I-275 interchange to Grand River. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction overnight and on weekends.
