Memorial Day: What's Open in Farmington and Farmington Hills

Government offices will close for the holiday, but you can still buy postage.

If you're staying in town this Memorial Day weekend, you won't be able to visit either of the Farmington Community Library branches, but you can still buy postage. 

Here's a look at what's open and what's not on Memorial Day:

  •  and  city offices will be closed, as will the in Farmington Hills. 
  • While post office branches in and are closed, you can use automated mailing centers in their lobbies to weigh letters and packages, and buy postage.
  • Both the  on 12 Mile Road and the  are open until 6 p.m. today, and then closed Saturday through Monday. You can always drop off your books, CDs, DVDs and other materials at the drive up return on 12 Mile, or the drop box at the Farmington branch.
  • The  office will be closed today and will re-open Tuesday morning.
  • Most major retailers, drug stores and grocery stores are open on Memorial Day, but some have special hours of operation. Before you head out, call ahead – you can find phone numbers in our handy directory. And if you use , you can dial the number from the listing.
