More than 1,000 Farmington Hills Homes Without Power

A storm that blew through the area this afternoon also left traffic lights out.

A severe thunderstorm that blew through Farmington and Farmington Hills late this afternoon left more than 1,000 residents without power, according to DTE Energy.

A wide swath of neighborhoods in an area bounded by 14 Mile Road and I-696, and west of Orchard Lake Road to Drake Road, are affected. There are also smaller pockets of outages throughout Farmington Hills, including a cluster along Halsted Rd. between 12 and 13 Mile Roads and east of Orchard Lake Rd., south of 9 Mile.

Facebook fans told Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch that traffic lights are out at 10 Mile and Orchard Lake Rd., at 13 Mile Rd. and Drake (with an accident on Drake north of 13 Mile), and on Farmington Rd. between 13 Mile and 14 Mile Roads,
