National Weather Service Issues Tornado, Flood Watches for Southeast Michigan

Thunderstorms are expected to continue through Friday, with a chance of snow showers Friday night.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tornado watch and a flood watch for southeast Michigan, including Farmington and Farmington Hills.

The tornado watch continues through 6 p.m. today, and the flood watch through Friday morning. Flooding closed Halsted Road south of 14 Mile in Farmington Hills this morning.

According to the NWS forecast, thunderstorms expected after 2 p.m. today could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain. Winds may gust as high as 33 miles per hour. Snow showers are possible Friday night.

A tornado watch means that weather conditions are right for tornadoes to form in our area. Stay tuned to Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch for updates.
