Oakland Community College Chef Wins National Achievement Award

Kevin Enright has worked at the Orchard Ridge campus in Farmington Hills for 28 years.

Kevin Enright, chair of the culinary department at Oakland Community College Orchard Ridge (OCC) in Farmington Hills, has received the Hermann G. Rusch Chef’s Achievement Award from the American Culinary Federation (ACF).

Enright, a Troy resident, received the award during the 2013 ACF Central Regional Conference, held in Little Rock, AK, April 28-May 1. 

The award recognizes a chef who has generously shared his knowledge with others throughout the years and continues to be a source of information and guidance for other culinarians. As the regional winner, Enright is a candidate for the national award presented during the 2013 ACF National Convention in Las Vegas, July 21-25.

“I am honored to have received the ACF Central Region Hermann G. Rusch Chef’s Achievement Award,” said Enright. “I have strived throughout my career to display the highest level of commitment to the profession and promote the value of ACF membership, as ACF has provided me with many opportunities to excel in this profession. I am proud to be mentioned in the same breath as Hermann G. Rusch, AAC, HOF.” 

Enright is an ACF-Certified Executive Chef and Culinary Educator, and has worked at OCC for 28 years. He started in the culinary industry at age 15 and holds an associate degree in culinary arts from Schoolcraft College.

Enright has coordinated the ACF Apprenticeship Program for ACF Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association for 24 years. He has coached Oakland Community College’s student competition team for 20 years. The team won the ACF Student Team National Championship in 1995 and ACF Central Region Student Team Championship in 2007.

In 2006, Enright received the ACF Central Region Chef Educator of the Year Award. Enright has been an ACF member since 1976 and has served on ACF Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association’s board for 34 years. He is a member of the American Academy of Chefs, an honor society for chefs.
