Old Winery Market Hosts Second Annual Pie Contest

Amateur bakers are invited to enter their favorite homemade pie recipes.

The Old Winery Market in the Old Winery/Powerhouse building in Farmington will host the 2nd Annual Homemade from Scratch Pie Contest at noon on Feb. 4. 

Last year's contest, held at the Power Road Winter Market, drew seven entries. Winners were friends and Farmington residents Sharon Davis and Ginny Morris. 

Only the first 20 entries will be accepted. Contestants must send a copy of their recipe, along with their full name and contact information, to gardengate@emypeople.net, or by mail to Jean Smith, TOWFM Pie Contest, 4324 Mushroom Rd., Snover, MI 48472.

Each contestant will be required to bake two pies to be presented the day of the contest. Two categories of pies will be judged: Fruit Pies (apple, cherry, peach, etc.) and Other (pecan, pumpkin, sweet potato, etc.).

Pies will be judged on appearance, crust, filling and originality. For complete rules and terms, read the contest brochure, attached as a PDF to this post.
