Mercy High student Nikki Barczak scores big in national swimming competition.

Name: Nikki Barczak

School: Mercy High School

Accomplishment: Nikki was a top point-earner for the Birmingham Blue Dolphins swim team in last weekend's YMCA National Championships, held in Florida. Nikki was part of a first-place 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished with a time of 1:33.83. She also took national titles in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races.

Key to awesomeness: Nikki was an outstanding swimmer for Mercy High School this season. As to attend the University of North Carolina this fall, she helped the Marlins earn their sixth straight Oakland County crown, winning the 50-yard and 100-yard free in record-breaking times. A six-time All-American,  she is an All-County, All-State, All-Area and All-Catholic athlete and 2010 team captain. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.
