Retired Our Lady of Sorrows Priest Faces Sexual Misconduct Allegations

The Archdiocese of Detroit in a statement said the Rev. Loren O'Dea is on administrative leave and restricted from public duty.

Members of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic church are tonight absorbing the news that the Rev. Loren O'Dea, a retired priest from that parish, is facing allegations of sexual misconduct with two young boys, prior to his ordination in 1993.

In a statement released today, the Archdiocese of Detroit said O'Dea, 83, "has been placed on an administrative leave of absence and restricted from any public ministry."

The statement indicates the decision was made after the allegations were deemed "substantive". Information about the allegations, which came to light over the past several weeks, has been turned over to authorities, the statement read.
