Student Athlete: Patrick Vietor

Top-ranking BMX biker often puts others before himself.

Name and Age: Patrick Vietor, 11
School:
Sport: Patrick is a BMX rider, bicycle motocross. He races his bicycle locally, but also on a state and national level. 

Accomplishment: Patrick is currently ranked 1st for his age group (this will probably drop to 2nd when the last set of points get posted). He finished 1st in the most recent national race at Waterford Oaks BMX track. 

On Labor Day weekend, he traveled to Lousiville, KY to race in the Grand National Race for the series, hoping he would finish in top 5. He finished in first place in the pre-race, but wrecked out of the semifinals.

Patrick is a straight-A student who also plays the cello. In his spare time, he enjoys theater and will be playing "Jem" in To Kill A Mockingbird, which opens Sept. 30 at the . 

Patrick frequently thinks of others and is helping his mother collect school supplies for schools that are less fortunate. 

Patrick makes his mother proud because of all his accomplishments and because he often thinks of others before himself. One race that he was in, he wrecked. Instead of getting back on his bike, he went and helped the other down rider and made sure they were okay before he got back on his bike.
