Take a History Themed 'Jane's Walk' Through Downtown Farmington May 4

Local historian Brian Golden will lead the conversation during a casual walk through the historic central business district.

Join Farmington resident Brian Golden for a history-themed "Jane's Walk" through downtown Farmington at noon on May 4. 

Walks are taking place all around the country May 4 and 5, in memory of urban activist Jane Jacobs, who believed in urban design that fosters community. According to the Jane's Walk website, "There are only two rules: walks should be taken and given for free, and they should be walking conversations." 

The Farmington walk is also a chance for community members to get in some steps for the F2H Fit city-wide health initiative. Residents in Farmington and Farmington Hills have been challenged this year to "eat well, exercise regularly and have more birthdays". (Read more: )

Anyone interested in learning more about local history, sharing their own knowledge and talking about the future of downtown Farmington is welcome to attend the May 4 walk, which will start from the information booth at the Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market located on Orchard Street, just east of Farmington Road and behind Fitness 19.
