Your Guide to Downtown Farmington's Art on the Grand

The annual juried art festival opens Saturday on Grand River in downtown Farmington.

Creativity is on display Saturday and Sunday during Art on the Grand, a juried art festival in downtown Farmington.

Formerly part of the Founders Festival in mid-July, this stand-alone event now draws thousands of people to Grand River during the first weekend in June. If you're going, here's what you need to know:

Hours

10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 2.

Admission

There is none! You're free to stroll around town to enjoy the art, music and other entertainment.

Parking

The Farmington Downtown Development Authority website has a map of all available parking. Pack your patience – and walk or bike, if you can – it's likely to be crowded in and around downtown Farmington.

What if it rains?

The show goes on!

How many artists are participating?

About 100 from Michigan and around the country. Their booths will feature paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry, pottery, fiber, furniture and mixed media works.

Will there be wine?

Anyone 21 and over is welcome to visit the “Grapes on the Grand” wine and beer tent, open both Saturday and Sunday during festival hours.

What about Saturday's Farmington Farmers & Artisans Market?

The Market will be open as usual on Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at its new location in the parking lot behind Fitness 19, just east of Farmington Road on Orchard Street.

Where can I find a full schedule of entertainment?

On the downtownfarmington.org website. And it really is a full schedule this year, including performers at the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion who represent 15 different countries.

What else is there to do?

You'll find children’s hands-on activities, face painting, and food booths near the pavilion. Visit the kickstART farmington booth in front of Ruby Blu Salon to participate in the Gratitude Photo Project and share something you're grateful for with a photo in their photobooth.

Is there more?

If there is, you'll find it in the Art on the Grand section of the Farmington Downtown Development Authority website
