Advocates, Opponents Spent $15,000-Plus in Farmington Bond Election

Advocates for Excellence raised nearly $10,000 during the November campaign.

Post-election campaign statements due Dec. 5 show bond advocates and opponents spent more than $15,000 on the failed Nov. 5 Farmington Public Schools bond

Advocates for Excellence, which worked for passage of the bond, raised nearly $10,000 throughout the campaign, with the bulk of donations coming early in the race. The group raised $3,667 and spent $6,331 in the campaign's final weeks. Most of the money went into print materials and advertising. 

Opposition group Farmington Kids 1st raised $675 in the final reporting period, bringing its total contributions to $5,800. The group spent $5,539 with Royal Oak-based Visual Group, including $1,773 in the final weeks for a voter poll, email list and three "robo-calls". There were no other expenditures.
