Farmington Education Advocate Seeks State House Seat

Chris Greig is the volunteer director for the Farmington/Farmington Hills Education Foundation.

Christine "Chris" Greig, who serves as director for the Farmington/Farmington Hills Education Foundation, has announced her candidacy for term-limited State Rep. Vicki Barnett's State House seat.

Greig, a Democrat, joins a field that includes Oakland Schools board member Theresa Rich and Farmington Hills mayor Barry Brickner, also Democrats.

"I am running for State Representative to represent the people of Farmington and Farmington Hills - two strong communities where I am proud to have lived, worked and raised my family since 1990," Greig said in a statement issued Thursday.

Growing up the sixth of 12 children in rural Indiana, Greig moved to Chicago after graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1985. As a consulting manager for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), she traveled the country sharing her expertise in business process reengineering with both private and public corporations in a wide variety of industries.

After moving to Michigan, she worked for Kmart Corporation at its Troy headquarters. Greig was a co-owner and consultant for Fulcrum Computer Services, a small business based in Farmington Hills for 12 years. She managed business technology projects for Domino’s Pizza, CSC Healthcare and Masco Corporation.

In addition to her position with the Foundation, Greig's volunteer service has included the Farmington Hills 20/20 Vision Committee, Farmington/Farmington Hills Pledge for Success, the Optimist Club, Xemplar Club, Greater Farmington Area Chamber of Commerce and American Association of University Women. She has traveled to Lansing to advocate for adequate funding for public education.

"I am passionate about representing our community in the State Legislature," Greig said in the release. "Elected leaders must go beyond dashboards and get to the heart and true strength of Michigan – its people."

Greig has been married to her husband, Bob, for 22 years. They have three sons; Alex and Andy attend the University of Michigan and Bill is a student at Farmington High School.
