Farmington Hills native Eric Gutman spent nearly three years living an actor's dream and performing in the award-winning musical Jersey Boys, before he walked away from Broadway.

The 1995 Harrison High School graduate brings his one-man show, "From Broadway to Obscurity", to West Bloomfield's Berman Center for the Performing Arts Jan. 25 and 26. Gutman said the Berman Center commissioned the show, centered around his time with Jersey Boys, which tells the story of the 1960s musical group The Four Seasons.

“Eric Gutman: From Broadway to Obscurity” explains why a man would work hard for so long to achieve a dream, then make the decision to walk away from it.

"This is my story, but it could be anyone's story," Gutman said. Audiences can expect a lot of music and a bit of humor, as well as "a lot of touching moments that I'm very proud of."

There's also a message in all that music.

"Ultimately, I hope that they have a great time," Gutman said. "And I hope they walk away thinking that it's a good thing that sometimes people change their minds. Sometimes, good things can come from that."
