Botsford Hospital's annual lecture series for primary care physicians reaches 30-year mark

Botsford, a nationally-recognized teaching hospital in partnership with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, is sponsoring the 2013 Symposium for Primary Care Medicine, November 1 and 2, at the Sheraton Detroit Novi Hotel. In its thirtieth year, this popular lecture series regularly fills every available seat. 
 
Continuing medical education (CME) helps health care professionals to maintain, develop, or increase their knowledge and skills used to treat patients. Physicians are required to earn 150 CME credits every three years in Michigan and may earn up to 17 CME credit hours at this two-day event. The American Osteopathic Association and Michigan State Medical Society accredit Botsford to sponsor CME for physicians. Nurse practitioners, certified physician assistants, and registered nurses may also earn CME credits to meet continuing education requirements for Michigan relicensure. 
 
This symposium's faculty members develop, review, and deliver CME content to attendees. This year's faculty members are experts in these medical specialties: cardiology, dermatopathology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, gynecology, infectious disease, oncology, nephrology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, psychiatry, or radiology. 
 
"Our symposium offers a large and exciting array of topics from clinical informatics to current ADHD treatment and provides the most advanced-level educational program to primary care physicians," says Andrew Cykiert, D.O., FACOI, Botsford's director of continuing medical education and assistant clinical professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
