Chamber Soloists of Detroit Presents Guest Violinist Itamar Zorman

and Pauline Martin

Michigan—Feb. 10, 2014)
  Chamber Soloists of Detroit will present
Israeli violinist Itamar Zorman, 2011 Tchaikovsky Competition prizewinner, in
his Detroit recital debut with pianist Pauline Martin on Sun., March 9, 2014 at
3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Farmington Hills.


            The program will
feature two romantic gems—Johannes Brahms’ masterpiece, the Sonata No. 3 in d minor, and Sonata No. 4 by Brahms’ contemporary
Friedrich Gernscheim, which will be a Michigan premiere, along with Bach’s Solo Sonata in C and Maurice Ravel’s
fiery showpiece, Tsigane.

            Guest artist
Itamar Zorman has won top prizes in international violin competitions and received
the 2013 Avery Fisher Career Grant.  He

has performed as a soloist with the American Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie
Hall and made his Avery Fisher Hall debut with the Julliard Orchestra.  Zorman has toured with orchestras and chamber
ensembles in Europe, Israel and the U.S. for the past five seasons. He holds
degrees from the Jerusalem Academy of Music, The Julliard School and the
Manhattan School of Music, and has received scholarships from the
American-Israeli Cultural Foundation.


            Pauline Martin, artistic
director of the Chamber Soloists of Detroit, has earned international  recognition for solo and chamber music
performances and recordings, including a first-round Grammy nomination and
Chamber Musica America/WQXR-FM award for Hobson’s
Choice
and Old Acquaintances Koch
International Classic, respectively.  The
Canadian-born pianist has collaborated with leading instrumentalists and is a
featured concerto soloist with North American orchestras, including the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra, the New American Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra London Canada.  Martin holds advanced
degrees in piano performance from Indiana University and The University of
Michigan.
