The Roots of Motown

Jazz researcher and broadcaster Jim Gallert presents a multi-media look at the late 1940's Detroit music scene which evolved into Berry Gordy's Motown sound.  A fascinating and entertaining program of rare photographs, sound recordings, and short films that link the social and cultural history of Detroit to Hitsville USA.

Anyone who loves Motown music and the movie "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" will thoroughly appreciate the presentation.

The program is free and open to anyone. Registration is required at 248-553-0300.
