Hillel Day School Holds Open House to Prospective for 2014-15 School Year

The 2014-15 school year enrollment cycle is underway. Parents seeking award-winning teachers, small class sizes, and a progressive, dual-language curriculum in a safe facility are invited to visit Hillel Day School, an Early Childhood Center (ECC) and Kindergarten through eighth grade independent Jewish day school in Farmington Hills, on Wednesday, November 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Hillel is the only private school in Michigan, and the first Jewish Day School in the United States to participate in EdLeader21, a national network of progressive districts and schools focused on integrating “The 4Cs” (Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration and Creativity) into education. In accordance with its devotion to Jewish living, Hillel has added its own “3Cs” (Core Jewish Values, Character, and Community).

“Joining EdLeader21 was the logical next step in Hillel’s journey to provide Metro Detroit’s Jewish children with the unique combination of comprehensive Judaic Studies and solid academics. Hillel will continue to emphasize the importance of being a good person as well as a strong student,” said Steve Freedman, Hillel’s Head of School.

This year Hillel has implemented many exciting changes to its already strong instructional model. Students in Kindergarten through fourth grade have multiple teachers in their general studies classrooms, allowing for tailored instruction to each child. Every fifth through eighth grader receives a PC tablet for use throughout the school year, which are also available to third and fourth graders. Children in the ECC and students through second grade utilize iPads in the classroom.
