Laymon Family Fight Against Lyme Mostaccioli Dinner/Raffle

Community Rallies Behind Family of 3 Stricken with Lyme Disease;
Dinner/Fundraiser Set for November 3rd at Dearborn Heights Bar
Jewelry, Autographed Sports Memorabilia, and Smartphone to be Raffled

(Dearborn Heights, MI) - Friends of Annapolis High School graduate Constance Laymon are busy putting the finishing touches on a fundraiser designed to raise much-needed money for her and her two sons, all of whom are victims of Lyme Disease.

Laymon, a Farmington Hills resident, was initially incorrectly diagnosed when she showed symptoms of the disease many years ago.  As a result, her sons, Grant, 18, and Luke, 5, became victims while in their mother’s womb.  They’ve been fighting an uphill battle with various expensive medications since then to keep the disease at bay.

Carol Bonzack, also an Annapolis graduate and a family friend, has been working hard coordinating a mostaccioli dinner and fundraiser to help Laymon with the medical expenses.  She said she was motivated, in part, by also being a mother and knowing the importance of being a source of strength for one’s children.

“What Connie has been going through is something no mother should have to endure,” said Bonzack.  “Her Facebook posts are gut-wrenching, and when someone in our Annapolis family is hurting, we all hurt, and that’s why this is so important to me.”

The fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, November 3, from noon to 5 p.m. at Confetti’s Liquor Box Lounge, located at 3932 Pelham, near Dartmouth, in Dearborn Heights.  The event will feature live music, raffles, a silent auction, and more.  The suggested donation of $10 for adults allows diners a chance at winning a new iPhone 5.

Lyme Disease is a chronic condition that is the most commonly-reported tick-borne disease in the country.  It can be hard to diagnose because many of its symptoms are non-specific and occur in many other diseases.  Without treatment, its victims become increasingly debilitated.

“Connie’s hurting in more ways than one,” Bonzack added, “and my hope is that the community will come together and show her we care.”
