Michael Yashinsky, Assistant Stage Director of the MOT production, will demonstrate all the elements of a successful opera production, and will discuss the fascinating music and history of this controversial work.
La Traviata is based on the true story of Paris courtesan Marie Duplessis, whose life is the subject of a recent biography, The Girl Who Loved Camellias by Julie Kavanagh. The MOT production of La Traviata, November 16-24, celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birth of its composer, Giuseppe Verdi.
