Outdoor Survival at the Nature Center

Do you have what it takes to survive in the wilderness? Find out in this Outdoor Survival Workshop designed to teach Tom Browns Jr.'s Sacred Order of Survival: Shelter, Water, Fire and Food.

Survival expert Mary Vance will share her knowledge of fire building and use of a bow drill, debris shelter building, and obtaining pure water from the earth. Mary will also lead a wild edibles hike through Heritage Park.

Bring a bag lunch and water, all other materials will be provided. Please dress for the weather and being active outdoors. The fee is $25 per person, for ages 16 and up. Advanced registration is required and can be done online at https://recreg.fhgov.com or at the Costick Center. Participants should meet at the Nature Center.

The Farmington Hills Nature Center in Heritage Park is located at 24915 Farmington Road, between 10 and 11 Mile Roads. Call the Nature Center at 248-477-1135 or email asmith@fhgov.com for more information about other upcoming Nature Center programs.
