Does your local farmers' market offer organic produce? The answer may surprise you!

I’ve really enjoyed this Labor Day weekend.  Spent a good portion of time at home, cooking and getting my office space organized, and blogging.

I also love going to the local Farmer's market on Sundays and chatting with the farmers to learn about how they grow their produce.  I have learned a lot about how to grow my own vegetables more successfully.

I've also learned that organic may be closer to organic than you think, even though it is not certified.  It costs the farmers more to have their crops certified, and they have to pass that additional cost on to us and charge us more.  However, some farmers go to great lengths to grow organically, and skip the certification.  They use the right seeds, they take great care of their soil, they tend to their gardens naturally, without the use of harsh pesticides.

Next time you visit your local farmer's market - strike up a conversation with the famers behind the table.  They are proud of their work and bounty, and are more than happy to share their stories and how-to's with you!

Wishing you an enjoyable Labor Day full of health in every step you take and every bite you savor.
