Young Republicans Invited to Farmington Event

The Michigan 11th Congressional District Republican Committee will be hosting “The Future of the Republican Party: A Panel for Young Republicans”. The panel will consist of State Representatives Andrea LaFontaine (R-Richmond) and Frank Foster (R-Pellston), former Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop, and Michigan Republican Party Youth Chair Sarah Ledford.

“We feel that it is necessary to reach out to the next generation of Republicans and get them familiar with the party, while giving them the tools they need to make a difference in their communities,” said Tom Stroup, Chairman of the 11th Congressional District Republican Committee. “Like all organizations, the future is with the youth and it is essential that we get our young leaders more involved so that they may play an intricate role in the 2012 elections."

“The redistricting process has created a new 11th Congressional district, which will consist of a larger portion of Oakland County," said Jeff Wiggins, the event's organizer. “Our goal is to connect the youth of the current district with the youth that will join the new district, while allowing the attendees to receive invaluable information from some of the party's influential figures." Wiggins continued, "it seems only fitting that Farmington, one of the cities that will be added to the 11th, would serve as the venue for the first event bringing some of the new district members together.”
