Farmington Food Truck Rally Benefits Local Food Shelves

The rally brought four food trucks to downtown Farmington's Walter E. Sundquist Pavilion and Riley Park.

Food shelves at Neighborhood House in Farmington Hills and S.O.U.L. (Source of Universal Love) in Farmington are a little less empty today, thanks to a Sunday food truck rally in downtown Farmington.

Planned by Salathiel Palland, proprietor of Off The Beaten Path Bookstore & Emporium, and KickstART Farmington, with support from Vera Lucksted of growFarmington and Jamie Gipson of Neverland Finds Resale Shop, the event was the first of its kind in Farmington.

The Shimmy Shack, The Grindhouse, Treat Dreams and The Mac Shack food trucks all parked in a lot near the Walter E. Sundquist Pavilion and Riley Park. Farmington-based Mother Mary's Toffee Company and Basement Burger Bar also participated.

Entertainment for the afternoon was provided by Yavia Hoops, and Neverland Finds Resale provided props and frames for a creative project with KickstART Farmington.

Attendees donated four large tubs of nonperishable food items, split between Neighborhood House and S.O.U.L., volunteer Kelli Carpenter-Crawford said. She added that Neighborhood House, in particular, is still in need of donations. Bins are available at Farmington city hall, 23600 Liberty St., and Farmington Hills city hall, 31555 W. 11 Mile Road.
