'Footprints' 5k Fundraiser Helps Troubled Kids Find New Directions

The Farmington Hills event supports a facility that provides residential care for children ages 12-18.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Farmington Hills will host a "Footprints of Peace Track & Trail", an Oct. 5 fundraiser for New Directions, a Farmington Hills nonprofit that provides residential treatment for children ages 12-18. 

The event includes a 5k partial trail run, a 2-mile track walk and an obstacle course for young children and teens. It will be held at New Directions, 28000 W. Nine Mile. Formerly known as Boys and Girls Republic, New Directions is a part of Lutheran Child & Family Services. The facility's staff works with children who have cognitive, emotional, disorders or impairments and are part of the Farmington school district.
