Foster Closet Seeks Storage Space for Donated Goods
Farmington Hills resident Michele Austin has run out of space in her home to store items for foster families and children in Oakland County.
A non-profit that provides clothing and equipment for children in foster care has grown right out of its space.
Farmington Hills resident Michele Austin, who is director for Foster Closet in Oakland County, said the 501(c)3 is an all volunteer organization. She has been storing items at her home.
"We've gotten so inundated with donations, that we've run out of space," Austin said. "We're hoping somebody in the area would have about 1,500 square feet of space so we can continue to grow."
Foster Closet serves only foster children and the families who take them in. There are more than 700 children in foster care in Oakland County alone, Austin said.
Anyone who can help may call Austin at 800-554-4966 or write to her at fosterclosetofmichigan_oakland@yahoo.com or oakland@fosterclosetofmichigan.org.
