Gleaners, Patch and DMC Make Virtual Cereal Drive A Huge Success

Check below for detailed numbers on contributions for the state of Michigan and across the country.

The results are in!

During the first week of June, participants in the drive bought cereal items, gave donations via a special website established by Gleaners, and brought boxes of cereal to designated Children's Hospital of Michigan (DMC) locations throughout Metro Detroit, including West Bloomfield and Royal Oak.

Locally, the drive raised nearly 680,000 servings of cereal for hungry kids. A large jump from last year’s collection was just shy of 400,000 servings.

On the online donation page, 8 donors composed the patch.com team, for a total of $240.40.

This is the 4th year that the Professional Nurses Council at Children’s Hospital has held the collection and each year it continues to grow, helping Gleaners provide much needed food to children who are at risk of hunger when they lose access to school-provided meals over summer break.
