What does your group do for the community?

In addition to running the Chesley Street Community Garden growFarmington supports green and growing initiatives in Farmington, Farmington Hills and surrounding areas.

In 2014 we hope to create a "re-leaf" program working with the city to plant trees in public areas. Also to help Farmington earn "Tree City" status through the Arbor Day Foundation.

What's a fact about your group/volunteer that most people wouldn't know?

Each year growFarmington assists the community through maintaining public spaces, such as schools or parks. We donate fresh produce to area food banks and in 2013 we worked with a Boy Scout on his Eagle Badge. In previous years growFarmington installed a garden at a private home for the benefit of the seriously ill resident.

Also, we are not garden experts! We are enthusiasts who enjoy digging in the dirt.

What's a fact about your group/volunteer that most people wouldn't know?

Plots are available at the Chesley Street Community Garden if you would like to try your hand at growing fresh vegetables and herbs. Let your city council know that you support the creation and maintenance of green spaces in our community.
