Panasonic Grant Supports Mercy Education Project for Women

The funds, presented by representatives of the company's Farmington Hills location, will help provide educational services.

Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America, with a location in Farmington Hills, has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Mercy Education Project (MEP), 1450 Howard St. in Detroit.

The grant will support MEP's Women's Educational Services Program.

Paul Schultz, Manager of Corporate Planning at Panasonic, presented the check to Amy Amador, MEP’s Executive Director. Schultz was accompanied by Jillian Hall and Ann O'Steen, two Panasonic employees from the company's Farmington Hills location.

“At Panasonic, we are committed to supporting nonprofit organizations in the communities where we work,” Schultz said.

MEP was founded in 1992 by the Sisters of Mercy to provide educational services to at-risk women and girls. Today, MEP serves almost 300 students each year, offering intensive adult basic education and GED preparation for women and after-school tutoring for girls in grades 1-12.
