Sunday Contra Dances in Farmington Raise Funds for Charity

Elise Newcomer, Miss Farmington 2011, hosts a charity contra dance Sunday, Dec. 15, from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the American Legion Groves-Walker Post, 31775 Grand River in Farmington. 

Beginner lessons start at 12:30 p.m. Admission donation is $10, and $5 for students. All the money collected goes to a local charity.

No experience is needed, and you don’t need to bring a partner. Dancers range in age from 13 to more than 90 years old; anyone can learn and enjoy the dances, which are taught by an experienced caller.

Monthly dances in 2014 will be held Jan. 19, Feb. 16, March 9, April 6, May 18 and June 1.
