Adopt a Farmington Area Family Through Holiday Angels Program

The Farmington Youth Assistance program focuses on families with children ages 13 and older.

Farmington Youth Assistance (FYA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening area youth and families through community involvement, is seeking volunteers to adopt a family in Farmington or Farmington Hills.

According to an FYA press release, the Holiday Angels program is in its seventh year of helping underprivileged families with clothing, toys, toiletries, and grocery and utility cards to make their holiday season a little brighter. It is the only program in the area focusing on families with children over 13 years old.

“Year after year, Holiday Angels captures the spirit of the holiday season,” said Holly Hufeld, FYA board member and organizer of Holiday Angels. “It’s a great way to bring extra cheer into the lives of a Farmington or Farmington Hills family struggling to make ends meet.”

Community members are welcome to contact the FYA office by Dec. 6 with names of families in need whose youngest child is 13 years of age.

Classrooms, church groups, clubs, offices and families that volunteer will be matched with a family and provided a wish list of suggested items. Cash donations are also accepted; FYA can purchase gifts for a family on a donor’s behalf.
