Watch for Farmington Area Connections in Thanksgiving Day Parades

Lauren Chiodo of Farmington Hills marches with the University of Massachusetts marching band in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Whether you're watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade or America's Thanksgiving Day Parade, keep an eye out for participants with Farmington area connections.

The University of Massachusetts Marching Band, which includes Lauren Chiodo from Farmington Hills, was chosen this year to march in the New York City parade, which starts at 9 a.m.

While the band has marched in three Presidential Inaugural Parades, this year marks their first appearance in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Here in Detroit, Mid American Pompon All Stars, based in Farmington Hills, will perform for America's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The broadcast starts at 9 a.m. on WDIV-TV, Detroit's NBC affiliate. Grand marshal for the parade this year is retired Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland.
