A friend of mine came to me with a question about potty training. It’s been many of years since I’ve had to, but she needed some help, so she asked and I answered. In the discussion to follow we got on the subject of asking for help in general.
I was told once the only dumb question is an unasked question. Some people disagree. However, I loved this advice because to me it makes perfect sense. If you don’t know, you won’t until you ask.
I took it a step further and broke it down to my friend this way. If you ask for what you need there are a few answers, yes or no or they know or they don’t. You’re hoping for the yes or sure I can help you with that. If the outcome is the opposite, you are still right where you were. It doesn’t change where, who or what you are. Nothing worse can happen, so why not ask.

Sometimes in life we allow ourselves to remain in a dilemma a lot longer than we have to, either because we are afraid to let people know our problems or we lack the knowledge to solve them. Either way seeking out help is what needs to happen.
Yes, it may be a little embarrassing to put yourself out there, but think of flipping that pride and being confident now to go out into the world equipped to make things better for you and your family.

There is also the damaged past that can hold you back. You know, being told no constantly or let down so many times you’d just rather struggle than ask for help. Don’t let the lack of faith in you by others keep you from reaching out to the people who will be sent across your path to help you create the life you will love and know you deserve.
People like me are waiting just around the corner with a yes, so keep asking and seeking. You are bound to find exactly what or who you need!
