There are several outdoor events this month in Farmington. One I would like to attend is the Photography Walk. It incorporates exercise with one of my hobbies, taking outdoor photos. Thinking of what to share this week, I considered an event that would involve the community giving back.
I call it the Volunteer Voyage! It’s a nice way to make an impact on the community involving the community.
First, sit down and think of three things you can do in a day’s times to beautify or uplift your area. Here are a few suggestions…

- Rake leaves for some elderly neighbors
- Return trash cans to backyards for people still at work after trash pick up
- Deliver treats to senior centers
- Drop off hats and gloves to a nearby homeless shelter
- Take hot chocolate or coffee to the guys at the oil change locations around your area
Once you have your ideas together, it’s time to round up troops. To get the word out and request volunteers you can put flyers up, go door to door and email. If you have a neighborhood watch program you can bring it up at your next meeting and have a sign-up sheet handy when you do.
Everyone can car pool to save on gas and time getting to and from each volunteer effort. It’s a community effort “Love Ambush”™. I’m all for that!
