Maggie Loridas, Senior Volunteer, and Other Farmington Area Obituaries

Area funeral homes published these obituaries over the past week.

Margaret "Maggie" Loridas, who co-founded the Farmington community's senior center, died Jan. 2. She was 84.

Loridas and Loretta Conway organized the center in the 1970s and 1980s, according to a 2012 Farmington Observer article. Loridas served as a liaison who helped connect seniors with activities and programs; the Farmington Area Commission on Aging and the City of Farmington Hills Senior Division annual Diamond Award is named in her honor.

Loridas was preceded in death by her husband Paul, in 2011. Survivors include her children Michael (Laura), Patrick (Kathleen), Paulette (Gregory), Mary, Katy (Jeffrey) and Joseph (Janet), and 17 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Jan. 5, 2 p.m.-8 p.m., at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington. A funeral mass will be celebrated at noon on Jan. 6, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Rd., Farmington.

Memorial tributes are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Our thoughts are with the friends and families of these people with Farmington and Farmington Hills area ties whose obituaries were also published over the past week:
