11 Farmington Hills Vehicle Break-Ins May Be Tied to Other Crimes

Investigators are looking into whether incidents at three city parks are connected to similar crimes in other communities.

Farmington Hills police suspect 11 vehicle break-ins that happened Sunday at three city parks are connected with similar incidents in other communities.

Commander Matt Koehn said Monday that the incidents in parking lots at Heritage Park on Farmington Road, Founders Sports Park and the Farmington Hills Ice Arena on Eight Mile Road and Soccer Soccer on Drake Road, occurred between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

"We are thinking it's probably the same people," Koehn said. "There are several cities around us that had the same kinds of incidents, and we are working with those other jurisdictions."

Koehn said items taken included purses containing cash, credit cards and cell phones, as well as a couple of iPods. According to a Nixle.com alert issued Monday, most vehicle windows were smashed, and items stolen had been left in plain view.
