Berkley Man Drives Car with Missing Wheel through Farmington, Faces Charges

The following information was supplied by the Farmington Public Safety Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

A 43-year-old Berkley man faces a charge of drunken driving, after a Farmington Public Safety officer on patrol Feb. 8 spotted a vehicle with a missing wheel traveling west on Grand River.

According to the report, the officer had stopped for a red light at the Grand River and Drake Road intersection, when he heard a loud grinding noise. He spotted the truck traveling through the intersection and noticed it was leaning to the right, because of the missing wheel.

The report indicated that the driver, who was visibly intoxicated, told the officer he was heading home to Berkley after having "10 beers" with friends at a Dearborn bar. A preliminary breath test showed his blood alcohol level was .14; a second test taken as the man was being booked showed a .20 level. Both are more than the .08 legal limit.
