Bleach Attack in Farmington Hills Seriously Injures Group Home Worker

A 57-year-old Farmington Hills man who lives in a group home for men with mental disabilities and criminal backgrounds faces charges following an attack on a 49-year-old Detroit man. 

According to a Farmington Hills Police report, the Detroit man was treated at the scene for burns caused when a liquid thought to be a mix of bleach and hot cooking oil was thrown in his face. The report indicated the man was also attacked with a knife.

When police arrived, his eyes were swollen shut, and his lips were swollen. Due to extensive burns on his body, he was transferred from a local hospital to Detroit Receiving Hospital's burn unit.

The Detroit man caught the Farmington Hills man smoking in his room earlier in the day, which was a violation of the house's rules, according to the report.
